XIMGFIT
ximgfit is a 2-D image fitting program. Its highlights are:
-
Can be used with or without convolving model with a PSF (fits) image.
-
ROSAT PSPC and HRI analytic PSFs are built-in.
-
Very similar interface to XSPEC (including command-line editting/recall)
- Ability to remove sources, with pixel replacement values that properly
include counting statistics
- Genetic algorithm fitting (improves performance when relative minima are
problematic).
- Ability to generate fake data sets (ala fakeit).
- Ability to produce source + model radial profiles.
The manual is available online.

Note that bash must be installed on your system to use the current
ximgfit driver script. If you do not have this (i.e., standard
Solaris systems), then download ximgfit.sol.
In this case, the ximgfit directory will have to be in your PATH
environment variable.
